The results are in and the voters have decided for change at City Hall. The three Incumbents ran as a team rather than touting
their individual strengths. This proved not to have been a good idea- for them. Incumbents June Johnson and the newest member,
Charles Beago, both lost their seats and Jesus Humphrey barely
drew enough votes to force a runoff against former Councilman, former Mayor and former Fire Chief Mike Burgett.
Burgett received 48.5% of the vote to Humphrey's 42% but a majority
was required to avoid a runoff in the three way race. Unless.....
.....A runoff election can be avoided if Humphrey chooses to concede or withdraw from the election. Knowing how he and others touted the extreme expense of
elections I guess he could save the tax payers a lot of money. Two years ago Humphrey lost by two votes with two spoiled ballots. He sought a recount and upon
examination, the two spoiled ballots were ruled to have been intended for Humphrey. Yes, it seems suspicious, but I know the decision was honest and correct.
Humphrey also survived a recent (yes/no) recall attempt with a tie. Knowing how divided the City has become, Humphrey could
end his four term career in style. How about it Councilman?
Here are the unofficial results.
Place One
Keith Clements...........303
June Johnson..............221
.................................524
Place Three
Mike Burgett..............258
Mike Tiegs...................47
Jesus Humphrey.........227
.................................532
Place Five

Charles Beago............227
.................................532
