Restroom/Concession Building in Park Cost Taxpayers--$0.00

That is correct. Not one taxpayer dollar was spent in building the restroom/concession building at the City Park. It was built entirely with donations of money, materials, and labor. All expenses have been covered by the donations.

Without the tremendous sacrifice of many people and businesses, this building valued over $100,000 would not exist today. I am proud to have participated in such a project with such great people. Those that criticize and complain never seem to accomplish anything other than the sewing of discontent but the people and businesses I've listed below have been good examples to us all.

I want to give special recognition to the City's greatest volunteer- David Anderson, and the many others that spent hours working on this project including Raul Acosta, Jerry Alexander, Harold Birch, Lonnie & Charlene Revels, Calvin Hill, Becky, Joshua, Stephanie and Timothy Pape, Jason Ramsey, and Michael Schoers. I also want to give special recognition to businesses such as Cornerstone Roofing, Pulte Homes of Texas, Oso Grande Mobile Home Park, Hollywood Door and Stair Company, Phillips Lumber Company, Acme Brick Company, Lofland Steel, Pape Air Conditioning, Quality Cabinets, Greater Southwest Interiors, Paver Construction, and Hilco Electric for their major donations of time and material as well. I am compiling a list of the major contributors to this building and I want to say a hearty THANK YOU for the tremendous sacrifice of time and money that each contributor made to provide this gift for the Citizens of Glenn Heights.

I also want to encourage and thank those that take time to volunteer their time and efforts to make Glenn Heights a better place. To the volunteer firemen, reserve police officers, little league coaches, Board and Commission Members, P.T.A. & School Volunteers, and even to those that mow the medians on City property, I want to say a special THANK YOU for making Glenn Heights a better place to work and live.

Sincerely,

Stephen Pape

PS: The opportunity to help is still there. We need to make the building more secure by adding bars on the doors and we need bathroom stalls, hand rails, and some trim work. Monetary donations could be used to purchase these remaining items or if you are in a position to provide these materials, you would be greatly appreciated! If you would like to help please e-mail me. Thanks. I'd like to help! Reply

The Steak Dinner Challenge.

It amazes me how some people will say, do, and believe anything without ever checking things out. To help find the truth, I want to encourage each of you to watch this web site for the name of the first Glenn Heights Council Member that can locate a home built in Glenn Heights by Pulte, Robbie Hale, Choice, H & H, Monarch, Gehan, Harrison, D.R. Horton, Hillcrest or any other volume builder in which I, or my family business, installed the original air conditioning or electrical system during the past ten years while I was active in Glenn Heights City Government.

In addition to posting the Council Members name, I will allow him (or her) up to a 400 word statement on this site, wash his (or her) car, and cook him (or her) a steak dinner if one of the above builders would say that I even solicited their air conditioning or electrical work.

In case you are wondering, I don't think it would have been wrong for me to have bid on the work but I chose to avoid even the appearance that would lead to the very accusations some Council Members continue to recklessly make. I supported growth in Glenn Heights for many reasons but contrary to their claims, lining my own pockets was not one of them. Don't hold your breath but if any of them choose to apologize for their careless unfounded attacks, I will post his (or her) apology as well.
